Religious education in Queensland
Religious education in schools in Queensland is provided by members of a variety of religions and faiths. Depending upon what parents specify at the point of enrolment, students attend religion classes. The faith groups that deliver religious instruction in a state school reflect the school community.
Religious instruction is delivered by members of the various faiths, either as a separate arrangement or with others in a cooperative arrangement. The curriculum for these classes is established by the leaders of the faith groups, with classes being taught by members of each respective faith.
Parents and caregivers are required to provide details of their child's religious denomination at the time of enrolment. Religious education is non-compulsory and parents have the option to withdraw their child from classes at any time they wish. Students who elect not to complete religious education are provided with alternate activities, such as private study.
