Mullauna College

Mullauna College

Mitcham VIC, Melbourne Eastern Suburbs

Mullauna College in Mitcham is a co-educational state secondary school with a growing enrolment of currently 550 Year 7 to 12 students. Mullauna is an indigenous word meaning ‘together’ and reflects our motto, ‘Success through learning together’. It expresses our belief that excellence is best achieved when students, teachers and parents work in partnership to provide experiences that ensure the best possible learning and wellbeing outcomes for the young people in our community.

Curriculum

Mullauna is an active and academic learning community. At the centre of our work, the college believes in high expectations in all students and a commitment to hard work. We have a strong tradition of academic excellence, active student leadership and participation, as well as outstanding music, sporting and debating programs. Our Excel High Achievers program, English as an Additional Language courses, Years 7 and 8 Challenge program and Year 9 SkillZ@Mullauna program are examples of targeting the learning experience that best meets the individual needs of our students.

The college offers a breadth of pathways for our senior students, including VET and the VCE Vocational Major, and our Year 10 students are actively encouraged to undertake VCE subjects, with more than two thirds doing so consistently. Mullauna also delivers a well-regarded and successful international student program (CRICOS number 00861K).

Extracurricular activities

Mullauna’s students also have the opportunity to participate in a diverse range of co-curricular activities, including student leadership, instrumental music, debating, camps and sports. They excel in both the visual and performing arts.

For students coming into Mullauna at Year 7, our extensive transition program and close links with local primary schools ensure a continuity of positive learning experiences and a smooth transition to secondary education.

Facilities

Recent building works have been completed, providing state-of-the-art learning spaces for our current and future students: a new Visual Arts and Technology precinct, a Makerspace facility, a double-storey learning centre with eight classrooms, including ICT and presentation spaces, and a new Junior Learning Centre. We also look forward to our next building program commencing next year, which will see the addition of a double-storey STEM Centre with six specialist laboratories and a new Food Technology centre.
