Scotch Oakburn College is an independent school in Launceston, Tasmania, offering exceptional educational opportunities for boys and girls from Early Learning (three years) to Year 12 and boarding from Year 6 to Year 12.
A Uniting Church School, Scotch Oakburn has established a reputation for excellence in academic standards, sporting and cultural arenas and in education outdoors.
The college has a wonderful balance of proud traditions and innovative thinking to provide the very best learning environment for our students.
Our Year 12 students’ average median ATAR from 2014 to 2018 was 88.8. This consistently places 50 per cent of our Year 12 students in the top 11.2 per cent nationally and gives them a great start to their life beyond the college, which for over 90 per cent of students involves tertiary study.
Scotch Oakburn is the only Tasmanian school to be a member of the Round Square Association of international schools. Round Square is a group of over 200 schools around the globe that share a commitment to the educational principles of Dr Kurt Hahn.
The college has three campuses: the Elphin Campus, comprising Early Learning to Year 5 and the College Boarding House; the Penquite Campus, comprising our Middle School (Year 6 to 8) and our Senior School (Year 9 to 12), and Scotch Oakburn Park sporting grounds and wetlands; and the Valley Campus in the Fingal Valley, home of our Education Outdoors and Environment Centre.
Scotch Oakburn is characterised by a distinctive and evolving ‘Vision for Learning’ based on educational research and experience.
