The Lakes College

North Lakes QLD

The Lakes College is committed to promoting a culture of excellence by providing an educational setting of the highest standard. Our strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy and focus on foreign language, the arts and physical activity, allows students to explore and develop their interests and passions.

The college’s state of the art facilities coupled with extensive pastoral care equips students for the technological, economic, social and personal impacts of the future. As our classrooms transform to meet the changing technological landscape, we remain at the frontier, ensuring our students emerge ready for whatever the coming decades may hold.

Primary School

The Lakes College Primary School is a nurturing and supportive learning environment for students from Prep to Year 6. Our Primary staff are dedicated to ensuring your child’s lifelong learning journey gets off to a great start. The foundations for all future learning are formed during these crucial Primary years and our staff strive to make certain these foundations are solid through engaging and interactive learning experiences.

We believe that for a child to reach his or her learning potential, they must be happy. Through our three Bs — Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be a Learner — we work together to ensure each and every child feels safe enough to take risks as a learner and try new things and valued as a respected member of our community. Any obstacles to this happening are addressed immediately and the college treasures the close relationships we have with our parent community.

Secondary School

Our specialist Secondary years’ learning programs aim to engage each student in learning while challenging them to grow. Students have the opportunity to experience a wide range of subjects that will equip them with the knowledge needed to succeed in life beyond the classroom. To support our students, our vertical house-based system of pastoral care focuses on mutual respect, whilst equipping students with the right life and inter-personal skills to enable them to grow as individuals within our Christian community.

Alternate Pathways

The Lakes College has partnerships with a number of Vocational Education and Training providers to enable students to pursue a variety of post-school options and careers. Some of the courses are delivered in school, while other courses are studied externally. Students are supported by teaching staff through the completion of their chosen courses.

Year 12 students achieve outstanding ATAR results

Congratulations to the 2022 Year 12 students on their perseverance and hard work to achieve excellent results in their senior subjects, VET certificates, ATAR outcomes and QCE achievements. The outstanding results affirm the college’s mission to provide excellence in education and reflects our high-quality approach to teaching.

  • 3% of our eligible students achieved an ATAR of 99 and above, an outstanding accomplishment placing them in the top 1% of the state
  • 15% achieved an ATAR of 95 or above, placing them in the top 5% of the state
  • 48% scored an ATAR of 90 and above, placing them in the top 10% of the state
  • The median ATAR for our students was 88.35

Every single one of our graduates leaves The Lakes College with a qualification. First and foremost, 100% of our senior cohort secured a QCE. Furthermore, 53% of the students in our cohort completed Certificate I, II, III or IV courses – for many, these qualifications were secured in addition to their ATAR. Finally, 28% graduated with more than one VET qualification in diverse fields such as Crime and Justice, Health Services, Fitness, Business, Furniture Making, Hospitality, and Electrotechnology, highlighting the wide range of pathway opportunities available to students at our College.

The Lakes College would also like to acknowledge and congratulate the 19 students from our Year 12 cohort who secured an early offer for their first preference course at university. The institutions our students received these early offers from include QUT, Griffith University, ACU, USC and JMC.

The college is proud of the diverse range of opportunities that is offered to ensure that every student pathway is valued and supported. We do not doubt that the Year 12 cohort will lead lives of character and fulfilment, and we look forward to celebrating their successes — not just this year, but for many years to come.
