ELTHAM College

ELTHAM College

Research VIC, Melbourne Northern Suburbs

ELTHAM College provides a unique and supportive environment where every young person has the opportunity to discover their talents and unleash their potential.

Set on a picturesque 40 hectares on the north-eastern fringe of Melbourne, ELTHAM College is a non-denominational, co-educational independent school offering Early Learning programs through to VCE.

ELTHAM College strives to be a centre of excellence and a valuable resource for the local community, and together we are proud to be a part of a learning journey that will grow the hearts and minds of the next generation.

A Thinking Culture

ELTHAM College encourages students to grow into confident, independent, curious and resilient learners within a technology-rich and supportive environment. The ultimate aim of an ELTHAM education is to create possibilities for unlimited learning.

The college continues to evolve to meet the needs of young people and the world they are growing up in. We pride ourselves on a culture of excellence and creativity.

Unlocking Potential

A collaborative approach helps our teachers focus on uncovering students’ individual talents and encourages exploration through a diverse and challenging curriculum that will inspire, motivate and engage.

Our range of academic programs are designed to encourage collaboration and teamwork and support students in developing aspirations for life beyond the school environment. The following programs highlight some of the unique opportunities ELTHAM College offers:

Reaching for the Stars – Our Observatory

The ELTHAM College Observatory has unlocked a whole new world of discovery for our students and taps into the current enthusiasm for astronomical endeavour and ongoing focus on STEM education. A number of students have been working alongside astronomers and researchers and were recently published in the Journal of Double Star Observations.

Year 9 City Experience

Our City Campus uses Melbourne’s unique urban environment as an extended classroom. Year 9 students experience a new level of education and independence that is deeply embedded in the technological, cultural, social and artistic centre of our city. Our desired outcomes for students include maximising academic potential and achievement, development of character and global responsibility.

VCE Extended Investigation

Extended Investigation is a challenging Unit 3 and 4 subject designed to enable students to conduct an in-depth study using inquiry learning and critical-thinking skills.

LifeWork Centre

Our LifeWork Centre is the hub of the Senior School. LifeWork counsellors work with each student to develop strategies, investigate options, and facilitate opportunities to discover their individual pathways to success.

Hospitality Training Centre

The Swipers Gully Training Restaurant is a fully licensed, student-run venue that is open to public five days a week. Our program has received the VCE VET Student of the Year State Premier’s Award 12 times over the past 18 years. Year 8 students participate in our Coffee Shop program and Senior School students have the opportunity to complete a Certificate II in Hospitality (Front of House and Kitchen Operations).

Growing Hearts and Minds

With access to world-class teachers and facilities that include a state-of-the-art music and performance centre, science laboratories and observatory, heated indoor swimming pool, sports stadium and sporting fields, hospitality training centre and nature reserve, your child’s opportunities are limitless.
