Different, by design

At Cornish College, education is evolving. The world is changing rapidly, and schools can no longer rely on traditional models to prepare students for what lies ahead. That’s why Cornish looks, sounds, and feels different – because education needs to.

As a forward-thinking and deeply caring school, Cornish is committed to innovation with purpose. We don’t pursue ‘different’ just to stand out – we embrace it to make a genuine difference in the lives of our students and the future they will shape.

Our approach is to equip young people with the skills and mindsets they’ll need to thrive in an uncertain world. Transferable capabilities like critical thinking, curiosity, collaboration, adaptability, creativity, and resilience are at the core of everything we do. We want our students to leave Cornish College as well-rounded, well-grounded young citizens, ready to make a difference and be the difference in society, with confidence and an enterprising spirit.

This means challenging the status quo. We’re transforming what teaching and learning can be – placing curriculum design in the hands of educators who craft engaging, relevant experiences for every student – for now and for the future.

Central to this evolution is our Design Futures initiative – a progressive and dynamic approach to learning that encourages students to explore, experiment, and create meaningful solutions to real-world problems. Design Futures empowers each learner to write their own story, embracing mistakes, navigating challenges, and discovering new ways forward.

In 2025, we’re also taking a bold new step by positioning Cornish College as a research hub for environmental conservation and sustainability, further embedding Design Futures principles across our curriculum. This is more than innovation – it’s a commitment to preparing students for a future that they can shape.

At Cornish, we are proud to be different, by design.
