Message from the Principal

Multilingualism is more than just the addition of multiple languages. Two mother tongues enable students to see the world from different perspectives, to realise their individual potential, and to become creative and confident participants in the global community.

Welcome! First of all, thank you for your interest. We are looking forward to introducing Deutsche Schule Melbourne (DSM) to you.

DSM is an accredited German School Abroad which opened its doors in 2008. We are located in the state of Victoria in Fitzroy North, an inner suburb of Melbourne, and we offer the highest standard of bilingual education for primary school children up to Year 6.

For us, this means the use of modern teaching methods that empower our students to independently reach their full potential under the guidance of highly qualified teachers from Germany and Australia. We focus on students individually to challenge and extend them with effective support programs.

Our language immersion model, together with the well-researched advantages of a bilingual brain, prepare our students for today’s global environment.

At DSM students are diligent, tolerant, respectful, environmentally responsible, friendly, creative, confident and most importantly, happy. We strongly believe that the best way to learn is in a friendly, safe and inspiring environment, and of course with lots of fun. Our warm and welcoming community plays a central role in this. Our many school events contribute to providing our students not only with a rich learning environment, but also a living space where the students feel at home, even after the lessons have finished.
