Message from the Principal

At Blue Gum we are reclaiming school as somewhere to be ‘thinking and doing’, not just ‘sitting and listening’. We’ve seen the power of Blue Gum’s re-imagined approach to early childhood education in Canberra for the last 20 years. I’m thrilled to be welcoming young children and their families to our new school in Hornsby marked by excellence in thinking, experience and practice.

Blue Gum is a place where young children want to come every day. From the beauty and intrigue of our physical spaces to our ethos, that equips them to be confident learners, communicators and collaborators — no two days are ever the same. Intentionally small by design, our learning community engenders a strong sense of belonging where children’s capabilities — as individuals and as a group — are nurtured and celebrated, and their diversity and multiple perspectives are welcomed. Children feel heard, known and listened to at Blue Gum, which lays the foundation for a lifetime of curiosity, learning and creative action.
