Genazzano FCJ College is a Catholic Day and Boarding School in Kew offering a co-educational Early Learning Centre and all-girls’ environment from Prep to Year 12. It offers students a rounded education that prepares them to become resilient, adaptable and confident women.
An inclusive community, we celebrate diversity and deliver a balanced approach to learning and growth. Our tailored pedagogy recognises and embraces different thinking and learning, and equips students with the skills and knowledge to succeed in the global world we live in.
In partnership with parents and carers, we work to create a learning environment enriched by the traditions of our Catholic faith and Charism of the Sisters, Faithful Companions of Jesus informed by Ignatian spirituality.
An award-winning school, Genazzano has been recognised as an Innovative School by The Educator in 2019 and 2020, for the work of the Genazzano Institute of Learning & Brain Sciences. The Institute has established a position at the forefront of utilising neuroscientific research in school education to improve learning and teaching. The aim is to provide exceptional student and staff learning experiences by working with key partners to leverage advancements in the fields of neuroscience, education, psychology, environmental design, health and information technology.
Vision and Mission
We share in a future-oriented and distinctive learning culture guided by reflection, wisdom and service. We empower young women to transform the world with faithfulness, courage and confidence.
Genazzano FCJ College lives its vision through embracing the talents, potential and dignity of each person. We achieve this by:
- Appreciating the unique giftedness of each other
- Confidently innovating and adapting to embrace a changing world
- Engaging with others with a positive, loving attitude; and
- Energising ourselves through high expectations.
Our hope is that through God’s grace working in us all, each young person grows into their best self, with a zest for life and the generosity and confidence to use their talents and gifts in the service of others.
Learning and Teaching
At Genazzano we think it’s important to know each student personally. Every student undertakes independent diagnostic testing upon entry to the College and at key development stages.
The College works on a curriculum and wellbeing model that immerses students in their learning and benefits their welfare.
The philosophy underpinning this model is that if the learning and teaching program engages, challenges and promotes learning, it will also meet the pastoral needs of students. So too, if wellbeing needs are met, optimal learning experiences will follow.
Teachers are integral to bringing the model to life and fostering an environment where learning and wellbeing are united.
Boarding House
Victoria’s only Catholic all-girls’ boarding school, Genazzano’s Hopetoun Hall Boarding House in Camberwell accepts students from Year 7 upwards and offers a safe and welcoming community where girls are fully supported by staff and their peers.
Within Hopetoun Hall, boarders are involved in social activities, study routines and specific educational programs; as well as transition activities, to welcome new girls early in the school year.
Student Wellbeing and Co-curricular
The College also offers a fortnightly whole-school wellbeing program—GenSTAR, which is about developing resilience and life skills; as well as an extensive Co-curricular Program including over 130 activities in Years 5 to 12 for girls to add richness to their education.
