Stuartholme School

Toowong QLD

Step into a transformative journey of educational excellence at Stuartholme School, where young women are inspired to become the compassionate leaders and change-makers of tomorrow.

As Brisbane’s only Catholic girls’ school offering both day school (Years 5 to 12) and boarding (Years 7 to 12), Stuartholme is uniquely positioned to deliver a future-focused education. Set across 21 hectares of stunning heritage-listed grounds, our school provides a nurturing and connected community where each student is known, supported and empowered.

Founded in 1920 by the Society of the Sacred Heart and guided by the vision of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat, Stuartholme is part of an international network of more than 200 Sacred Heart schools across 44 countries. This global connection nurtures a sense of belonging to something bigger, instilling in students a strong commitment to service, justice and intercultural understanding.

Our approach is grounded in the Sacred Heart values and a deep belief in the unique potential of each student. The Junior School program (Years 5 and 6) fosters a love of learning from the earliest stages. Purpose-designed learning spaces, small group teaching and a curriculum aligned with our Graduate Vision — courage, compassion and confidence — set the foundation for lifelong learning.

With a student body of approximately 850, Stuartholme offers personalised school experience with the breadth of opportunities often found in much larger schools. Students flourish in a vibrant environment of enrichment, where over 90 per cent are actively involved in co-curricular programs including Sport, Music, Visual and Performing Arts, and service initiatives.

Our award-winning programs and dedicated educators challenge and support students to become independent, collaborative and critical thinkers. Innovative teaching practices, tailored academic support and a focus on student wellbeing ensure each girl is equipped with the skills and self-belief to thrive beyond the school gates.

At the heart of the school is our Boarding House, home to over 140 boarders from regional, rural and international communities. More than a place to live, our boarding community reflects the warmth, openness and spirit of Cor Unum – one heart. Boarders bring a sense of connection that radiates through every aspect of school life. In our care, each boarder is supported to flourish both academically, socially and emergency.

Our global outlook is further enriched through the Sacred Heart Student Exchange Program, which offers reciprocal opportunities with more than 25 international schools. These experiences broaden perspectives and enhance the educational journey.

Guided by a rich heritage and a forward-thinking vision, Stuartholme School delivers a contemporary and transformative education with heart – preparing young women to lead compassion, confidence and courage to make a lasting impact on the world.

Stuartholme’s highly qualified teachers and specialist staff are experts in their fields and challenge their students to become independent, critical thinkers, arming them with the confidence to actively engage in their learning. The way they teach is aimed at empowering each of the young women in their care to be the agents of change, instilling the self-knowledge that their thoughts and actions have the ability to make an impact. Each student is an individual with different strengths and areas of growth, which is why our teachers focus on progression for every learner, regardless of their starting point.

The Co-curricular Program encourages students to explore opportunities that enrich their schooling. Categorised by sports, creative arts, enrichment and social justice initiatives, students can choose over 47 activities.

Co-curricular activities reinforce the value of ‘learning outside of the classroom’ and enables students to discover, develop and value their talents, allowing them to grow in self-confidence through a range of age-appropriate learning experiences. Students are encouraged to enjoy and contribute to their community, and to participate in service-learning, social justice programs, sports, arts and cultural activities, clubs, societies, domestic and international exchanges within the Sacred Heart Sister Schools worldwide.
