Heathdale Christian College - Werribee Campus

Werribee VIC, Melbourne Western Suburbs

Message from the Principal

Our founding families’ key desire for Heathdale Christian College was something far greater than just an academic education for their children.

They wanted their children to learn within a context that openly acknowledges that God is intrinsic to all aspects of life. This tradition continues to this day!

Our founding families recognised that providing a high-quality education was one of their main needs, but they also wanted more than just academics for their children. They desired a focus on the whole child, not just one or two aspects of their lives! This unique perspective remains a strong part of our practices to this day.

Our teachers see the students before them as a gift from God, a young life that has emotional, social, physical, intellectual, and spiritual needs. Each of these needs must be supported and nurtured. I believe this multi-faceted approach forms Heathdale’s distinction from other schools in this region. This distinction is driven by one of our key foundation theological beliefs that God has called parents to raise their children.

At Heathdale, the staff and I do not want to undermine the God-given authority of parents. Rather, we desire to partner with parents, support and assist them as they try to fulfil this God given role of raising their children. We do this by providing high-quality, deep and rich learning as well as speak into these young lives to help them discover and develop their gifts and character.

To me, this is at the very heart of what we call the Heathdale Experience and I invite you to get to know us by starting with an enquiry.

Student Profiles

  • Joshuah Ephraums

    Year Level: Graduate

Joshuah Ephraums graduated in 2019 as the Dux of Heathdale Christian College. He scored a 99.25 with a perfect 50 in Music. As well as working hard at his academics, Josh consistently displayed his passions and used his talents to serve in school life; playing drums in the College’s musical production of Beauty & the Beast, conducting his House’s mass choir for the Choral Competition, and leading his House’s band for the Battle of the Bands. Josh truly exemplified Heathdale’s whole student approach to learning.

‘Honestly, Dux was probably the best moment of my life so far. I was in shock and disbelief. But I’m so thankful to God every day. I studied at Heathdale my whole life and was part of a group that was in the first Kindergarten class, which was very special. And then, of course, all our friends who came in along the way… Year 6, Year 7. We still see each other all the time. I never wanted to move, it was a great environment, a great experience, and I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my life.

‘At the age of about four, my grandma came from Sri Lanka and brought me a small bongo drum. I felt a real energy when I played it. At eight, I started piano lessons with Mr Filip, a music teacher at Heathdale, and my love for music grew from there.

‘I would say it’s a misconception that people who get the Dux have to choose a purely academic pathway. I always believed that when you’re at school, pursue your passion; you want to do what you love. Why can’t you have both? Why can’t you do what you love and achieve as high as you can?

‘I couldn’t be more grateful to have spent school in a Christian environment, because of the values I’ve gained from the teachers, from students as well. Everyone’s there for each other.

‘I want to thank all the teachers for your encouragement, support and faith in me. I took away all the advice, all the positives, all the criticism, took it with me and wanted to improve because of it. As well as all the guidance, it was the kindness, encouragement and humility, because I know there’s so much more you can teach, but you strip it back for us. For nurturing us as students, it’s something we’ll never forget, so thank you.’
