Experience the ideal balance at Tintern Grammar

Since 1877,Tintern has been a leader in the fields of education, teaching and the care of all ourstudents. Located in the heart of East Ringwood, our modern buildings and spacious facilities are set on 40 acres of beautiful tree-lined grounds. While Tintern has a rich history and tradition, our school boasts state-of-the-art facilities with our very own working farm, gymnasium, swimming pool, STEAM and Robotics Centre, Science Centre, Early Learning Centre and magnificent sporting fields. Tintern Grammar promotes diversity and inclusion, giving students the opportunity to explore their interests while on the path to academic success the ideal balance for an unequalled range of educational and co-curricular opportunities.

Parallel learning

Tintern Grammar encompasses the parallel learning model, which sees students educated in both co-educational and single-gender settings according to their age and stage. Our younger students learn in separate gender classes at an age when gender tends to play a greater role in influencing learning styles. This allows us to tailor our teaching methods to create the optimal learning and pastoral environments to support each child. Our students feel more confident to take risks, be academically courageous and challenge themselves in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Students are introduced into co-educational classes when social development is an important part of their growth and maturation, with the move to more inquiry-based and independent learning as they prepare for future study and work pathways. Providing both single-gender and mixed classes on a co-educational campus gives families the perfect balance between the academic and social development of their children, and supports the development of young women and men of strong character who seek excellence and strive with confidence towards their future.

Global outlook

Global learning at the school is inherent at all levels. Our students have an appreciation of global interdependence and the school promotes ethical and moral thinking in relation to international issues. In addition, we promote a sense of social responsibility among students to take positive action to help promote a sustainable future both locally and globally. Strong emphasis is placed on the ideals of international understanding and responsible citizenship.

We have a culturally diverse mix of students at the school with both local and international students on the Campus. The school offers both first language and second language Mandarin, as well as French language studies and English as an Additional language. We support and promote a wide range of international and cultural exchanges and events in the Junior, Middle and Senior schools including World Challenge Expeditions that include adventure, community service and cultural experiences around the world, as well as cultural exchanges and trips to China, Thailand and France, amongst others.
