Tarneit is located in the Melbourne Western Suburbs, one of five metropolitan regions according to data from The Good Universities Guide. Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School was the best performer in the area with a median ATAR of 36, followed closely by Lowther Hall Anglican Grammar School.

School rating and rankings based on study score
Thomas Carr College is officially the best performing school in the suburb of Tarneit, recording a median ATAR of 26. The solitary Catholic school on the list narrowly beat out Tarneit Senior College and the suburb’s only independent institution, Good News Lutheran College, both of which achieved 25 as their median ATARs.
Three of the region’s six schools, Tarneit P-9 College, Baden Powell College and Islamic College of Melbourne, did not have an available median ATAR score and consequently, shared third position on the table.
