School rating and rankings based on study score
Topping the list of the best schools in the Australian Capital Territory was Radford College, an independent institution in the Canberra suburb of Bruce with a median ATAR of 91.85. Brindabella Christian College was second with 87.55 and Narrabundah College third with 85.65, while Melba Copeland Secondary School rounded out the top 10 with 79.15.
It was a tight race at the bottom of the list, with Dickson College (79.45), Trinity Christian School (79.35) and Melba Copland Secondary School (79.15) separated by less than a single point. There were just two single-sex schools – Canberra Girls Grammar School (all-female) and Marist College Canberra (all-male).
Seven of the 10 schools were independent institutions, with only Narrabundah College, Dickson College and Melba Copland Secondary School from the government sector. Interestingly, no suburb contained more than one school on the best performers list.
